Participant Information
I will be joining a charity trek in August 2018 to raise funds for 12 primary schools in Cambodia.
Cambodia still remains to be one of the poorest country in South East Asia. More than 80% of the population still live in rural area. Villagers rely on rainwater or nearby river and ponds for portable water. The open storage containers also make water vulnerable to contamination. Coliform and other bacteria are often found in the water causing diarrhea and other diseases. In addition, the lack of good hygiene practices and awareness have an impact on the health of school children.
The Charity Trek aims to raise fund to implement a WASH Project for 12 primary schools in Cambodia. WASH stands for “Water”, “Sanitation”, and “Hygiene”. Apart from installing proper toilets, building bio-sand filter and installing washing stations, public health education is also part of the project in order to raise awareness about good hygiene practices.

Established in 1998, A Drop of Life is a Hong Kong registered NGO that strives to ensure the access to clean water and sanitation a reality for everyone.We strongly believe that access to safe and clean drinking water is our basic survival right, and is also the key to solving long term problems such as poverty and low education level.
